Announcing Our Existence
After 13 billion years, were here
Hi. I’m the (currently anonymous) creator of sql wild west. I wanted to write this blog initially to boost our SEO score. In putting a few drafts down on paper, I came to the point of view that, while that may be a result, the greater benefit of writing about this product is to discover what it is. It is important that I, as the creator, builder, and owner, understands my own product so that I can build and develop it correctly. So what is Sql Wild West? It’s an open-world, free-to-use database. Anybody can join, anybody can use. In theory, you could use the service to do all sorts of things, from build SQL tutorials to run production applications. In practice, product discovery is all about narrowing the use case so that your limited resources go further toward solving problems in the real world. So here’s what Sql Wild West is for now – how we conceive of its purpose at this very moment (with the understanding that this can and will change). Sql Wild West is a collaborative community for people learning Sql. You can make tutorials & quizzes with it, you can try out some of our pre-existing tutorials and quizzes. You can learn about SQL. After all, database management & analytics are pretty big professions – yet, most real-world data is locked strongly behind network restrictions. So we’re building a database where the data is open and accessible by default, rather than restricted by default. And the biggest use case right now for this technology strikes us as enabling people to learn to code – and so that will be our focus for now. Just as the wild west evolved from a wild country of gunslingers and cattle rustlers to a land where plastic straws are illegal, so too will Sql Wild West evolve from an open wild world to a place where the use case is better understood. But, the beauty of an open platform is that it allows for the technology to be built in a manner that’s generic and widely applicable. We’re going to explore specific targeted use cases, but the platform can in theory host anything. Welcome to Sql Wild West, where there are no rules except draw faster than the other guy. Thanks for stopping by.
